Hey guys,

We've noticed that the off-topic conversation has recently become full of random polls and posts. Now we realise that they classify as off-topic as they aren't related to bluejacking but we would like to keep the Off Topic section for proper conversation - items such as news/current affairs etc.

And so we now have Trash Topics! A place where all your randomness will be moved from other sections!

New threads cannot be created in this section - this is where they will be moved/split to when they are identified as inappropriate for their current section. You can then continue to reply to the threads in the Trash Topics section as normal.

Threads will be automatically removed after a period of inactivity.

This means that posts made in the trash topics section will not count towards your post count after they have been deleted.

Please note that forum rules still apply and we will be monitoring this section carefully.

We have moved a number of threads into this section already to try and give you an idea of what counts as a "Trash Topic" or an "Off Topic Conversation".

Any questions/comments add them to this announcement or PM a mod/admin.

My biggest fear is that eventually, all topics will end up in this section. Laughing

Yeah, as I said in a thread I split this morning:

We're trying to keep the main threads for discussion, so chatter will be moved over here to keep things clean. Proper discussions are absolutely fine in the main body of the forum, but the threads in here will generally be very off topic or just a few people chatting about something.

Of course if a thread gets going again as a decent on-topic conversation, we can move it back to the appropriate section. Smile

How long untill inactive threads get deleted. If there ain't a bandwidth issue why even bother deleting them for now?

Around a couple of weeks, or when people are seen to have deliberately posted exclusively for the purposes of keeping a thread alive.

It's not the bandwidth, it's the fact that some of the threads were noticed to be quite chatty and not very important subjects. This is the kind of thing that can fade away and disappear, keeping the forums clean and promoting more interesting discussions.

Two threads have already been de-trashed, so it's not as if this section is necessarily where it will end up. Smile

Since this trash section is pretty empty, why not move all those stupid spam threads here?
Confused
