By registering and/or posting on the forums you are automatically agreeing to have accepted the following rules and abide by them.
Whether you read them or not is up to you.
"I didn't read them" or "I never said I agreed to them" etc. are not viable excuses for breaking the rules.
You are privileged to use this forum. This forum is not a democracy; the administrators & moderators have the final decision at all times. These decisions must not be challenged by anybody. Situations which have been decided upon by an admin/moderator are not to be discussed any further; the admin/moderator won't discuss it and you may be subject to a warning and/or ban.
Every forum member must adhere to the 5 rules below in order for forum standards to remain high:
1.1 No attacking or bullying other members. If you have a difference in opinions, don’t instantly take it out on the other person in the forums; via PM or email, intelligently talk to them about why believe that your opinion is better than theirs.
1.2 Don’t purposely change threads so the topic becomes different to what it originally was. Starting a thread about the new topic may be more appropriate in most cases.
1.3 No offensive language.
1.4 Posting or linking to anything that could damage anything in any way without an accompanying message that clearly states the dangers involved is not permitted.
1.5 Without prior approval of an administrator, the same person is not allowed multiple registrations/forum accounts. Evidence towards this could include, but is not limited to, two accounts posting from the same IP address. If you need to have two accounts from the same IP address, e.g. brother/sister posting from the same computer, you MUST ask the administrator before you create a second account.
Violations:
At the discretion of moderators, violators will be given a warning. Repeat offenders will be given a ban for anything from 1 day to permanently. This forum is not a democracy. All decisions undertaken by moderators or administrators are final.
Bans:
A new decision has been made by Jezza, jellyellie's father, regarding bans. Jezza will have the final say on decisions regarding all bans. If you receive a ban from the forums, it is Jezza who gives you this ban, not jellyellie or any other administrator/moderator. There is to be no further discussion, compromise or second chance after a decision has been made by Jezza.
Moderators
The moderators will take action towards any member who:
2.1 Repeatedly posts with caps lock on
2.2 Posts links to websites with an illegal or obscene content
2.3 Uses any word deemed offensive, at their discretion
2.4 Insults other members
2.5 Are prejudiced against others, especially new members
2.6 Post comments which are fictional
2.7 Post intending to break the 5 forum rules
2.8 Posts with a short, useless reply, e.g. 'Cool' or 'I don't think so' or 'Hahaha '
2.9 Puts an image in their signature
3.0 Blatantly advertises other websites, however this is entirely at the discretion of the moderators
3.1 Abuses the PM system in any way
Occasionally the moderators turn a blind eye towards minor incidents, but they want to keep the quality of discussion at a high level so action will be taken where appropriate.
At the end of the day, the administrator's decision is final. She may ban anybody at any point without warning for using any part of the forums in a way they're not intended for or for any other reason in certain circumstances.
Some people take jokes lightly; others don’t. Other members may interpret what may seem funny to you as a serious comment. This is how ‘flame wars’ start. A flame war is an insulting criticism or remark meant to incite anger, or to insult or criticize provokingly, on an online forum. "Flame" is used as a verb e.g. "Don't flame me for this, but...".
Remember: This forum is not a democracy. All decisions undertaken by moderators or administrators are final.
Rule 2.9 added 24th January 2004:
Images are no longer allowed in signatures for a number of reasons; there is no way I can limit the size so they are often too big, therefore taking up too much room in the threads. It is very distracting and annoying to have to see the same picture every couple of posts. Now avatars have been enabled for all those filling in the required forms in their profiles, I feel it is not neccessary for you to have images in your signatures as well.
Edit 25th February 2004:
It has been made clear that by registering/posting on the forums you are agreeing to follow the forum rules.
Rule 3.0 and 3.1 added 12th June 2004:
I felt people would be mature enough to understand why certain blatant advertising is not acceptable, but this has proven untrue. Therefore, I will be making this rule official.
Edited 15th October 2004:
Rule 1.5 enhanced to specifically mention multiple accounts posting from the same IP address.
Edited 2nd May 2005:
Update on bans and updated the Violation paragraph.

i have seen numerous one or two word replies such as 'great stuff', 'cool', 'well done'
do all users have to write essays in their answers? i mean, its a forum, where people from all over the world can express their opinions and views on a topic. i just thought that this so called 'rule' should be more of a suggestion, rather 'it would help if you could write more than one word' rather than saying 'you MUST otherwise the bjq mafia will hunt you down'
other than that, nice rules, concise, readable, and abidable!

Fair enough, but just because you are a moderator doesn't give you supreme knowledge of all forums.
If you want to know, i called someone an 'a-hole' and i was asked to calm down. We were having a heated discussion, and he brought my personal life into the situation, and i called him a name. Naughty me, but in 2 years of being a dedicated member of that forum, Esato, i have not once been banned, whereas others have multiple times.
I think that is quite an achievement, bearing in mind i like to have debates a lot! (not bad ones, just healthy ones hehe)
Regards
